Brother-sister duo to headline Family Fun Day

They are aged just 13 and 16, but Zac and Eliza Spalding have already played alongside some of the biggest names in Australian country music.

The brother-sister duo from Wodonga have also performed at The Man from Snowy River Festival, Ardlethan Country Music Festival, Tallangatta 50s Festival, Hamer Hall in Melbourne and twice at the Albury Carols by Candlelight.

The next big event on the agenda for the pair is the Sunshine Week Family Fun Day being held at the Kinross Woolshed from 3pm to 7pm on Sunday, September 16.

The charity event, organised by the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund, will be a personal gig for Zac and Eliza, whose aunty has just completed her second round of treatment for non-hodgkins lymphoma.

“Her first lot of treatment was before the new cancer centre was built so she had to travel to Melbourne a lot,” Eliza said.

“Her second treatment was at the cancer centre. They did a really good job and it made it so much easier for her to have her treatment close to home.”

Both Zac and Eliza are singer-songwriters, performing modern country covers and several original songs

They are the youngest in Australia to be endorsed by global guitar giant, Pro Music Australia and Takamine guitars, while Eliza is also graduate of last year’s Tamworth Country Musical Festival junior academy.

As well as touring with Kasey Chamber’s dad, Bill, the pair has played alongside country music sensations Sara Storer, Hayley Jensen and Danny Phegan and the Longreach band.

Sponsored by McDonald’s Wodonga and Coles, all proceeds of the Family Fun Day will go towards the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund.

Other performers on the day will be Steve Bowen, the Scots School Pipe Band and Captain Pete.

Children’s activities will include jumping castles, pony rides, balloon sculpting, face painting and an animal farm.

The event will conclude with spectacular fireworks.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $15 adult, $10 children or $30 for a family of up to five.
