Thrills and spills at Wodonga Caulfield Cup Pony Hop
The Wodonga Caulfield Cup Pony Hop delivered plenty of thrills and spills when it ran for the first time in four years.
Held on October 21, the novelty race featuring blow up horses raised $15,000 for research at the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre.
First across the line was Dylan Furst of Leed Steel, on “Passing Wind”.
He was followed closely by Danny Lattenstein of Huon Creek Retreat, on “Huey the Horse”, and in third place, Steve Ballard riding on behalf of Baker Motors on “Triton”.
Other entries were:
- Kyle Vaivads, Twin City Trucks on “Gottaluvtrucks”;
- Heleen van Ieperen, TVN On-Country on “South African Express”;
- Ben Engel, Zauner Construction on “Zeeeewinner”
- Reece Corcoran, Lewis Dickson Homes on “Lewis Dickson Homes”;
- Jim Maher, Commercial Club Albury on “Mr Ed”;
- Natalie Andrew, Albury Wodonga Garage Doors on “Baillie’s Journey”;
- Shane Sheil, Enzed Albury on “Dezne”;
- Casey Gamble, First Class Accounts on “Busy”; and,
- Danny Phegan, Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund on “The Tumournator”.
The pony hop was called off last year because of wet weather, and before that, as a result of COVID-19.
It was previously run as a fundraiser by the now defunct Border Ovarian Cancer Awareness Group.
