A New Chapter of Service

Hi everyone, I’m Brad Robertson, and I’m both honoured and humbled to be taking on the role of Chair of the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund.

First, I want to acknowledge the incredible work of Michelle Hensel, whose 7 years of leadership have been nothing short of outstanding. The foundation she’s built for this organisation is remarkable, and I’m committed to building on her legacy. I’d also like to sincerely thank Anthony Liston, Bryan Blake, and Kerry Strauch for their dedicated service on the board. Your contributions have made a real difference to so many families in our region.

Like many of you, cancer has touched my family personally. When my wife Kate was diagnosed, it changed everything. We’ve walked that difficult journey together as a family, and I’ve seen firsthand the incredible difference that quality local cancer care makes. Having treatment close to home, surrounded by our community and supported by people who genuinely care – that’s everything when you’re facing the toughest fight of your life.

Looking at what this Trust Fund has achieved is truly inspiring. From improved paediatric oncology support to assisting patients with hearing difficulties better understand medical advice from our region’s medical oncologists, the Trust Fund is making a profound difference in people’s lives during their cancer journey. Not only do these initiatives benefit our region; many of these improvements are being replicated throughout regional Australia by other cancer centres. This is a testament to the amazing people we have in our region.

Last financial year, the Sunshine Ride raised over $151,000 and the Sunshine Walk raised $140,000, funding vital equipment and ensuring our Wellness Centre can continue supporting patients and families. Every dollar raised stays right here in our region, making a tangible difference to real people going through incredibly challenging times. I would like to thank all of our sponsors – from those who can spare only a few dollars through to our major individual and business sponsors who have contributed every year to this amazing organisation.

I’m excited to work alongside our passionate team, our dedicated volunteers, and this generous community. Together, we’ll keep shining a light of hope for those who need it most.

If you see me around, please say hello. I’m here to listen, learn, and serve.
