From $10 to $4,727.75 – Riley’s Year 9 Rite Journey

Riley Kohlhangen, a local Year 9 student, has shown that determination, creativity, and community spirit can achieve incredible results. Starting with just $10 for a school assessment, Riley set out on his Rite Journey with the goal of raising funds for the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund. Riley stated, “picking the trust was a was a no brainer as sadly family members and friends have used these facilities or have been impacted by cancer, and majority of people have known someone who has been affected or even experienced it themselves”.  Riley’s incredible efforts have culminated in an outstanding $4,727.75 donation for the trust.

Riley’s fundraising journey began with a Lollie Snake guessing competition which sparked excitement and engagement within the community.

From there, he organised a dinner night at his local footy club, the Walbundrie Walla Giants, bringing together friends, family, and local supporters from the club for a night of food and fun, all for a good cause.

Not stopping there, Riley held not one but two cake stalls! The first one at a local general store and another at the annual Walbundrie Show, raising funds to add to his increasing total. His efforts reached new heights at the Hume Football League finals, where he collected bottles and cans to then cash them in to add to his donation total.

Throughout his fundraising journey, Riley has been supported every step of the way by his family, who helped organise events, spread the word, and cheer him on.

Riley’s story is a true testament to the impact one young person can have when passion meets action . His creativity, perseverance, and commitment have been truly inspiring and made a meaningful contribution to the Trust.

We congratulate Riley on this incredible achievement and thank everyone who supported him along the way. Together, the community has helped make a real difference.
