Huon Financial Planning continues cancer centre support

After signing up as a Corporate Friend of the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund in 2021, Huon Financial Planning has extended its support of the cause for a further three years.

Owner, Anne-Marie Humphries, said the business would remain as a Shimmer supporter, continuing to invest $5000 a year towards helping local cancer patients and their families.

It’s because of the importance of having cancer treatment, support and research available locally, said Ms Humphries, who is also Secretary of the Trust Fund board.

“Initially my involvement in being on the board related to having family members and close friends who’d had their own cancer journeys,” she said.

“Since then, we’ve had a number of clients diagnosed with cancer and heard firsthand what difference it’s made being able to stay local with their loved ones during treatment.

“The cancer centre is such an important facility and we know we’ve got to continue to get behind it and support it as well.”

Ms Humphries has been involved in financial planning locally since 1988.

She established the boutique financial planning firm, Huon Financial Planning, in Albury in 2010, and specialises in pre-retirement and retirement planning, and aged care consulting.

As a regional business owner, Ms Humphries feels it is important to support other businesses in the community, as well as local charities.

“I think that all contributes to being part of a really engaged and vibrant community,” she said.

“We do it because we choose to, but we also feel that it’s very much the right thing to do.”
