New manager takes the helm at Trust Fund
Former Wodonga and District Turf Club manager Tom O’Connor has taken over the helm at the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund.
Tom has been appointed as the new Trust Fund manager after Sally Evans stepped down to take up her previous role as media and communications coordinator.
Trust Fund Chair Michelle Hensel said Tom was selected during a competitive selection process from a strong field of candidates.
“We’re thrilled to have someone with Tom’s extensive skills and experience join the Trust Fund and help lead it into its next phase of growth,” she said.
Tom, a father of two boys, has worked in non-profits across football and racing for 20 years.
As well as the turf club, Tom is also a previous general manager of the Ovens and Murray Football Netball League.
He has relocated to the Border after three-and-a-half years with Warrnambool Racing Club.
Chasing a new challenge in a new industry, Tom said he was excited to start in a position with strong meaning and purpose.
“I have always strived to make a difference in a role I undertake and believe if I do this with the Trust, it will be very rewarding,” he said.
“I hope to continue the Trust’s strong partnerships in the community that it has established over 10 years, and continue the great fundraising initiatives for local cancer services.”
Sally, who has worked with the Trust Fund for more than seven years, said she has enjoyed the past two years as manager, but is looking forward to concentrating her efforts on the organisation’s media and communications.
Both Tom and Sally are employed on a part-time basis, along with administration officer, Vicki O’Gorman.
