Statement from the Chair of the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund
Statement from the Chair of the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund
22 September 2025
The Board of the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund acknowledges the announcement by Albury Wodonga Health regarding the transition of cancer services at the AWRCC from a public-private partnership to a publicly operated model, effective 1 July 2026.
As an independent charitable organisation, the Trust Fund Board was not consulted during the decision-making process that led to this announcement. We are now seeking comprehensive briefings with all relevant parties, including Albury Wodonga Health, Ramsay Health Care, and other stakeholders, to fully understand the implications of these changes for our community and the services we support.
Continuity of Trust Fund Services
We want to reassure our community that the Trust Fund remains committed to supporting cancer patients, their families, and staff during this period of transition. Our core services and programs will continue without interruption as we work to understand how the operational changes may affect our activities in the future.
The Trust Fund will maintain its unwavering commitment to our four foundational pillars, ensuring that community donations continue to be directed toward improving cancer care and support services in our region. We recognise the trust our donors have placed in us, and we will ensure their contributions continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
Independence and Future Planning
The Trust Fund operates as an independent entity and will continue to do so regardless of who operates the cancer services. Our independence enables us to respond flexibly to community needs and maintain our focus on patient and family support.
Over the coming months, we will be conducting a comprehensive review of how these changes may affect our future operations and strategic direction. This process will include meaningful consultation with our community, donors, and stakeholders to ensure our services remain relevant and effective under the new operational model.
Supporting Our Community
We understand that news of significant changes to healthcare services can create anxiety, particularly for those currently receiving treatment or who may need cancer care in the future. We want to emphasise that patient care will continue throughout the transition period, and the Trust Fund will maintain our support services during this time.
We encourage community members with questions or concerns to contact us directly. We are committed to transparent communication as we navigate this transition together.
The Trust Fund looks forward to working constructively with all parties to ensure the best possible outcomes for cancer patients and families in our region.
