Riding 3000km Across New Zealand to Support the Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre Trust Fund

Martin Brennan Embarks on the Tour Aotearoa Bikepacking Challenge in February and March

This February and March, Martin Brennan will embark on an incredible journey riding over 3,000 km’s across the entire length of New Zealand as part of the Tour Aotearoa, a challenging bikepacking adventure that spans both the North and South Islands. This personal and physically demanding ride will not only test endurance but will also serve as an opportunity to support a cause deeply close to Martin’s heart—the Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre.

Cancer has touched the lives of many people close to Martin. From witnessing the battle of a best friend facing testicular cancer at just 19 years old, to supporting a father who recently completed treatment for prostate cancer, and remembering former football coach, Karl Jacka, who tragically passed away at 35—these experiences have inspired the decision to raise funds for cancer care.

The Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre Trust Fund plays a vital role in providing lifesaving cancer treatment, care, and support to the local community, ensuring families don’t have to travel to Melbourne for treatment. By supporting the Trust Fund, Martin hopes to contribute to the expansion of services, education of staff, improved facilities, and cutting-edge research that can make a real difference for those battling cancer.

“I am riding for the people I love, and for all those affected by cancer. The Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre Trust Fund is helping to make sure families in our community receive the best possible care close to home. Every contribution counts and I encourage everyone to join me on this journey,” Martin said.

As Martin embarks on this 3,000+ km adventure, the community is invited to follow his journey on Instagram and offer support by donating to his fundraising page. Every donation, large or small, contributes to improving cancer care in the region and supporting those in our community with a cancer diagnosis.

“We are continually amazed at the level of support and number of different ways that our community members design fundraising events. We are thrilled to have Martin onboard and will be watching his daily videos with much interest” said Justine Rofe from the Trust Fund.

Martin leaves for New Zealand on Monday night and starts his ride on Saturday 22 February.  He anticipates that he will need to ride 150km per day and will provide a daily video update via his Instagram page
